At Waveland Dental Center, we really enjoy the holiday season: cheerful festivities, brilliant decorations and time with family are a few of our favorite things. However, the holiday season can be a tricky time for your teeth what with all of the sweets we tend to consume. If you are watchful, you can guard your teeth by picking which treats to enjoy and which to skip. Here’s a small bit of extra information for you on which foods are okay to consume.

If you have a single rule to keep for your oral health at the holidays, we’d recommend that you skip sticky foods. Sticky foods, as you may probably guess, stick to your teeth and become grounds for bacterial acids to decay the defensive layers of your teeth, eventually developing cavities. Foods like dried cranberries, gumdrops and jelly beans are a few of the worst offenders. Strive to decline these foods and your teeth will be healthier; if you must consume them, be sure to brush and floss your teeth afterward to eliminate any leftover foods.
